Holistic DoctorsI've found two main ways to locate holistic doctors. The first and most fruitful way has been to contact some of the labs that do alternative medicine nutritional testing, and they have sent me lists of holistic doctors in my geographic area who utilize their testing services. Spectracell is the main alternative medicine lab where my family has had most of our testing done. (There's more information on these labs in my section on Nutritional Deficiency and Digestive Testing.) The other way I've found holistic doctors has been to use the directories from the professional associations listed below. Some of the directories contain only holistic doctors, while others list practitioners in other holistic fields, such as N.D.s (doctors of naturopathy). I've found there is usually a lot of overlap between the doctors on the databases below and the doctor lists from the labs. American College for Advancement in Medicine American Academy of Environmental Medicine American Preventive Medical Association International Society for Orthomolecular Medicine The site listed below has a directory of holistic doctors. You can search their web site online, or pay $15 for a printed directory: American Holistic Medical Association Naturopathic physicians (N.D.s) can be found through this site: American Association of Naturopathic Physicians - the largest database of naturopathic physicians in the U.S., where U.S. residents can find a local naturopathic physician. NutritionistsI didn't see any directory listing of local practitioners in the site below on Clinical Nutritionists, but it does give information about the CNC program. International and American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists The following site has an online directory of registered dietitians:
BodyworkHere's a list of some bodywork sites that may be useful for people with scoliosis, TMJ, repetitive stress injuries or other problems frequently linked to poor body alignment: The Scoliosis World Web site also has many links for alternative health practitioners specializing in bodywork therapies, including information on yoga, which is often helpful for scoliosis. Someone I met through an osteogenesis imperfecta email group highly recommends a water bodywork therapy called Watsu therapy. The physical therapists who helped my family with scoliosis, neck pain, TMJ, etc. were Maureen, Leslie and Steve at: Optimal Performance Physical Therapy 801 Ygnacio Valley Road, Suite 200 Walnut Creek, CA 94596 (925) 945-6778 Fax: (925) 945-0389 Holistic DentistsThe following link has information on holistic dentists: Related Links - Alternative health treatments: What really works?
