1. Avoid eating refined, processed foods that have had many of the vital nutrients stripped out. I know many people advocate raw foods, but personally I'm not one of them. I think cooking foods makes them easier to digest and kills a lot of the bacteria and fungus that may have contaminated the food. In Ayurvedic medicine, focusing on cooked foods is recommended for certain body types. I feel best when I eat lightly cooked or steamed foods.

It is easy to digest, has a wide variety of vitamins and minerals, and the water the ingredients are cooked in is preserved, which helps retain many important vitamins and minerals.
3. Eat organic yogurt with active cultures occasionally. It helps to repopulate your digestive tract with beneficial bacteria.
4. Buy a few books on home remedies and Ayurvedic medicine to keep in the house. For minor illnesses, there are often many effective home remedies right in your in your own kitchen. Here are a few:
