There are hundreds, if not thousands of web sites, with tips for the chemically sensitive. When searching for answers to my son's health problems, I thought the information was a bit overwhelming at times. These are the links to the sites that I found the most useful in my son's recovery from MCS. Multiple Chemical Sensitivity: Understanding Causative Factors. Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients - "Indoor air contaminants from the widespread use of synthetic cleaning agents and synthetic colognes, perfumes, body care products, and air fresheners wreck havoc with immune functions of the body. These pollutants infiltrate and damage delicate detoxification mechanisms of the body and rapidly deplete the body's nutrient reserves of precursors and co-factors needed by the liver to keep toxins from suppressing immunity and congesting the lymphatic system." Magnesium Deficiency In Patients With Chemical Sensitivity - "The results of this study suggest that there possibly be some degree of magnesium deficiency in people who are chemically sensitive and that for enhancement of their treatment, attention should be paid to their magnesium intake." New car smell linked may be toxic - the MSNBC reports that recent research links the smell fom new cars to a toxic cocktail of harmful chemicals. Her emphasis is more on avoidance of chemicals rather than nutritional support to detoxify chemicals. However, it is still a good read and the article still does contain many useful tips. Some of the measures in this articles are fairly extreme, like boiling clothes in a pressure cooker or moving near a forest, but many more pragmatic tips are also included.
